TRAINING

The following 3 principles will give you and your dog a rewarding training experience.

If you practice those 3 principals, you will have a successful relationship with your dog. Dog training, for the most part, is all about making you and your dog happy. Club Fido trainers use dog friendly methods, such as food rewards and positive reinforcement.

In Obedience we offer group, semi-private and private Clicker training classes. A clicker will tell your dog, you did that just right! The click is a promise to your dog. Once your dog knows a behavior, you don't have to click every time, and you can eventually phase the click out completely, but when learning, if you click, you have to treat. It's simple and easy (once you know how to do it), and effective. Dog's love to have a job, overcome obstacles, and succeed. Learning basic commands is a good way to start.

Club Fido is in an air conditioned 10,000 square ft warehouse. We feature 3/4 inch rubber floors for your dogs comfort. We also have a complete AKC agility course in our facility. Club Fido offers various levels of Obedience and Agility in private, semi-private (2-3 dogs), and group (6-10 dogs) classes. The club also offers Doga and Cart training classes. Look for ongoing seminars on canine massage and Freestyle. Start dates for future training classes can be found on the home page or the activity calendar. If we forgot anything or have any questions, drop Deb an email and we will try to accommodate your request.

RoseannePuppy Class - This class will teach you all the basics you will need to know to train your new puppy or dog. We will discuss potty training, nutrition and health issues. This is a positive reward based class to teach them what you want them to learn and also we will teach you how to avoid the behaviors you don't want.

Manners Class - Pre-requisite Puppy class. Manners class is a refresher class for those dog's who know what to do but need a little reminder. This is a great class to brush up on all the skills you know and to have some great bonding time with your dog.

Do you want to build a relationship with your dog without screaming your dog's name 10 times before he/she acknowledges your presence? Are you tired of your puppy having accidents in the house, stealing everything you own and nipping your hands? How important is it to you that your dog comes to you when you call? If you'd like to improve or change all of the above or even some, then we can help you. Roseanne Foy can teach you how to remedy the above behaviors and many, many more in a group class (6 dogs or more) environment.

My name is Michele Gardner, I am 36 years young, happily married and a mother of two boys; ages 10 and 16. I also have two Akitas and two Shiba Inus.

As I was growing up, I always had a great love for animals and was always surrounded by them. My training career started approximately 10 years ago when I got my first Akita. It was required in the contract that she needed to be taken to obedience classes; I started her in puppy kindergarten and never stopped. We went on to win our National event in Rhode Island and she succeeded in being the number one Akita in the United States for two consecutive years. I have since devoted my time to have a greater understanding of the bond between humans and dogs. I practice responsible dog ownership, participate in various canine organizations and I continue to learn and grow from my mentors. I am a Canine Good Citizen evaluator and now enjoy assisting others to train their dogs and have an even stronger connection with them.

Let me show you how to strengthen the bond between you and your dog!

JackieDoga - Experience the ultimate in scretching/ relaxation dog and owner yoga from Jackie La Palaca. Doga is a form of yoga that incorporates your dog. This is also great for those athletic dogs to keep them stretched and healthy.

Advanced Agility - Pre-requisite beginner agility class. In this class you will build on the skills of the beginner class and learn more detailed handling to go around more complex courses. You will fine tune your weave pole and contacts in this class as well. If you are looking to compete then this is a great class.

Cart/Draft Class - This class is based on the NCA Draft Test Regulations and each step is covered by Joyce Bogar. A swash adjustable freight style harness is required for this class and can be order through Club Fido prior to the class. Joyce will help your dog adjust to the harness and cart. You will practice placing the harness correctly on your dog as well as making the connections to the cart. You and your dog will train in backing up, 90 degree turns, and negotiating narrow areas and gates. We also teach the tools needed for a 3 minute down stay in sight and out of sight.
