‘Elementals’ is a collection of visualizations of the subatomic particles that make up our universe, by Vancouver artist and collaborator David Laulainen.

The designs are exploded views of the elements that show, at scale, the protons and neutrons with their first-generation quarks, and the electrons that orbit the nucleus of an atom. Each design postulates a baryonic particle name, based on its quark’s flavour and family, to give each element a character that is both whimsical and potentially unobservable.

While you don’t need to be a physicist to enjoy the designs, you can take great comfort in how smart you feel when you wear one.
